so i have no clue why the driver packages kept installing that extra software. to switch between 2 d mode for your desktop it uses the intel chip then switches to the Nvidia GPU for games my cpu has no intel video chip on it. optimus is used for laptop cards if you have an internal vid chip built onto your Intel CPU. Driver version 361.75 and 361.91 had created problems for me by force installing Nvidia back end software, 361.75 also treated my internal graphics cards as a removable usb device and both driver sets for some odd reason kept installing Nvidia optimus software on my desktop machine.
I did not try the version 362.00 drivers as they had in the release notes for that driver there were no fixed issues in that driver package.
me i'm sticking to what works the best for my card, since the other day Nvidia actually pulled a recent driver due to problems it created for many usersĪnd replaced it with a beta driver version 364.51 and they also recommend users do a clean install and select a custom. as the driver package i got from Asus was larger then the one Nvidia was offering for the same driver plus 359.06 is the last driver my hardware manufacturer (Asus ) has available for my video card, i think its because they may do more internal testing on the drivers since my card is a factory overclocked model ?. i also saw reduced frame-rates in a few games with any of the newer drivers. so thats why i'm still using the older driver package. far cry 3, far cry blood dragon and FarCry 4 were all affected by this bug. Geforce experience ever since Nvidia driver version 361,75 had a problem for some users and Nvidia shadow play (part of geforce experience) if enabled would cause several games to crash on launch with a windows error screen. The Nvidia 3d vision portion of the drivers will do noting for you, unless you own the Nvidia 3d Vision Kit it comes with special 3d glasses and you have to use a supported 3d monitor for it to even work Then i check the box that says perform a clean installation HDMI audio > since i do use a 40 inch HDTV for movies once in a while connected to my GTX 960 Then i unchecked the installer for geforce experience and the 3d vision stuff and only installedĢ. When windows rebooted back from safe mode was run the Nvidia driver setup, choose custom install not Express What i did when i installed this driver was, after running DDU to clear out my old driver Some of the newer Nvidia drivers have been very problematic for me with Windows 10 (especially with Geforce experience installed ) I use an ASUS Strix GTX 960 Nvidia card and have been using Driver version 359.06 from December 2015 without any problems let it boot into safe mode and then select Clean with the AMD selection at the top enabled It will promt your machine to boot into safe mode when you run it. Or from the Official Nvidia Drivers forums here Try running DDU in safe mode to make sure you clear out any left over AMD drivers and also your Nviida ones and reinstall your new driver clean
